Role: Accounts Assistant

Reports to: Finance Director

Location: Shildon, County Durham

Principal Purpose:

  • Supports all UK AR Ledgers for all UK companies
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers
  • Monitors customer credit worthiness and reports on changes in status or patterns
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate AR ledgers and ensure integrity with GLs
  • Provides management with AR analysis as required
  • Supports a culture where finance is a service function that adds value and is not seen as a business overhead

Principal Elements:

  • Supports all Wilsonart UK AR ledgers
  • Manages customers to pay to agreed credit terms
  • Monitors customer credit worthiness and flags any changes in status to management
  • Resolves queries and problems with customers or documentation in a timely fashion
  • Executes daily, month and year end routines and processes

Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience in working in AR
  • Highly proficient ERP / IT skills particularly regarding AR
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships
  • An analytical, challenging mindset
  • Problem solving, can do attitude
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
  • Process orientated, suggests and implements process improvements

Performance Measures:

Annual appraisals to be undertaken by Finance Director and objectives set for the forthcoming year.

Role: Assistant Accountant

Reports to: Finance Director

Location: Shildon, County Durham

Principal Purpose:

  • Provides general accounting support to the finance leadership team
  • Integral to the production of monthly management accounts and the efficient running of the finance function
  • Able to work and support across a range of financial functions and responsibilities including VAT
  • Maintains process controls, account reconciliations
  • Active in the financial integrity of the company liaising on a range of financial matters with third parties
  • Works across all UK Wilsonart group companies

Principal Elements:

  • Assists in the preparation of management accounts, raising NL journals, preparing accruals and prepayments, reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Supporting the finance team to ensure the integrity of financial processes, ledgers, records and controls
  • Providing financial / variance analysis as required
  • Oversees bank payments and sundry banking duties
  • Preparing quarterly VAT and other regulatory returns
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end and statutory accounts

Requirements:

  • AAT, A levels or equivalent
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to oversee improvement projects
  • An analytical, challenging mindset
